Private jet safaris in Africa

Your aircraft, your guides, nobody else on board.

A private jet safari with Ascot Private means one aircraft for your party, from the day you land in Africa to the day you leave. Between the lodges, the golf courses and the bush strips there is nobody else on board and nobody else in your game vehicle. We host no more than twenty-four parties a year, across ten countries: South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Mozambique, Kenya, Tanzania (including Zanzibar), Uganda and Rwanda.

How a private jet safari works

You fly into Africa on a scheduled flight, or door to door by ultra-long-range jet from New York, Dubai or Singapore. From there we match the aircraft to each leg. A light or mid-size jet covers the long hops between countries. A Pilatus PC-12 or Cessna Caravan takes you into the bush strips. Where the last stretch has no runway, a helicopter does it. Your Journey Architect plans every leg, Scott Edkins reviews every itinerary, and Scott meets you before you set off.

On Tanzania Complete, for example, a Caravan flies you from Dar es Salaam to Jongomero in Ruaha, a PC-12 takes you north to Singita Sabora in the Grumeti concession, and you finish on Mnemba Island off Zanzibar. On Zambia & Zimbabwe, a PC-12 meets you in Lusaka and flies you to Mfuwe for Time + Tide Chinzombo, then on to Mana Pools for John's Camp.

Private jet safari or fly-in safari?

A standard fly-in safari uses scheduled light-aircraft shuttles. You share seats, keep to fixed times and stop along the way to drop other guests. A private jet safari goes to the same wilderness without any of that. You leave when you are ready, fly direct, and your bags travel with you.

Safari, golf or the whole family

Most of our guests come for one of three things. Safari journeys for two to four guests. Golf safaris that put rounds at Fancourt or Leopard Creek between game drives. And family journeys for families of four to six, up to three generations.

What it costs

Ascot Private golf safaris and safaris start from US$26,250 per person, based on four guests; family journeys are priced on application. Journeys run from nine to eighteen nights. The price includes all private flying within Africa, accommodation, meals, activities, private vehicles and guides. International flights to and from Africa are extra unless you choose door to door.

Frequently asked

  • Is a private jet safari safe? Every aircraft is operated under the civil aviation authority of the country it flies in, by licensed commercial pilots. If weather closes a strip, your Journey Architect reworks the day with the operator.
  • How much luggage can I bring? On the jets, a normal amount. On the bush aircraft, soft bags only, with a weight limit we confirm when you book.
  • Can we combine golf and safari? Yes. That is where Ascot Private started. See Golf in Africa.
