Fancourt Hotel

Fancourt is the reason most of our golf journeys stop in George. There are three courses on one estate, with the Outeniqua Mountains behind every tee, and the 115-room hotel sits among them. Six of our ten golf safaris stay here, for three or four nights.

The Links is ranked No. 1 in South Africa for 2025 and hosted the 2003 Presidents Cup. It is open and firm, the wind decides most of it, and your caddie earns their fee. The Montagu, No. 4, and the Outeniqua, No. 22, are both Gary Player designs. Most journeys play two or three of them, often with the first round on the afternoon you land.

Off the course, one evening is usually a private dinner in the Fancourt Manor House, the original manor and a national monument. On The Southern Arc and The Grand Traverse the sommelier opens the library for a vertical tasting and a six-course pairing in the cellar. Non-golfers have the spa and the gardens, a private drive to Knysna for lunch on the lagoon, or a visit to the Golfing for Change project in Oupad, which every Ascot Private journey supports.

It suits golfers first, and a couple where only one plays.

You arrive by Embraer Phenom 300 from Cape Town, under an hour, and the Fancourt team meets you planeside at George. On The Skeleton Coast & Garden Route your Citation XLS+ brings you south from Windhoek. When you leave, the Phenom 300 or a Pilatus PC-12 flies you north-east to the Lowveld or the Sabi Sand.
