Sabi Sand · South Africa · exclusive-use lodge for up to 12
Singita Castleton
Castleton is the Singita lodge that takes one party at a time. For up to 12 guests, the house, the pool and the kitchen are yours, and so are the vehicle, the guide and the tracker. Nobody else checks in while you are there.
We put it in the middle of The Wilderness South Africa because of what comes before it. You spend three nights at Singita Lebombo in the eastern Kruger, with its glass suites set into a ridge above the N'wanetsi River. Then a short helicopter hop west across the park sets you down in the Sabi Sand, and the feel of the trip changes. Castleton is a house. You eat when you are hungry and sit where you like, and there is no lodge timetable to fit around.
The Sabi Sand is leopard country. With no other guests sharing the vehicle, your guide and tracker will give a single cat the whole morning if that is what you want: a long drive out, lunch whenever it suits, and an afternoon in the bush until the light has gone.
It suits a family or a group of friends who would rather live in a house than stay in a hotel. A party of two to four should talk to us first. You are booking the whole lodge whether there are four of you or twelve, and we will tell you plainly whether it makes sense for your group.
Good to know
- One party at a time: the lodge is booked for exclusive use.
- Malaria area. Take your doctor's advice on prophylaxis before you travel.
- The dry winter months, roughly May to September, give the easiest game viewing.
