Prince's Grant Golf Estate
Prince's Grant sits on the clifftops of the KwaZulu-Natal north coast, and you can see the Indian Ocean from every hole. It is ranked 30th in South Africa by Golf Digest South Africa (2025), a ranking that tells you less about the experience of playing it than the view from the first tee does. It is golf on high ground above the sea, open to the weather on every side.
We take you out early, before the wind builds. By late morning the breeze off the ocean can change the course completely, and your caddie will want you through the most exposed stretch while it is still calm. Non-golfers have a free morning at Zimbali Lodge and join the golfers for lunch at the clubhouse.
You stay at Zimbali Lodge, a short drive down the coast, having played Zimbali Country Club the afternoon before. The two rounds make a good pair: the forest one day, the cliffs the next. From here the journey turns inland. A Pilatus PC-12 flies you from King Shaka to Phinda, where you track cheetah on foot with your guide, before a last night at The Saxon in Johannesburg. Our KZN journey runs in April to June and September to November.
