Steyn City Golf Course
Steyn City is a Nicklaus Design course on a private estate north of Johannesburg, and it opens our Highveld Golf Circuit. It is often called the most spectacular urban course in South Africa, and once you are out on it the city feels a long way off.
It is the first round of the journey, the morning after you land, so we keep the day simple. Your caddie takes you round in the cool of the morning. You are back at The Saxon in Sandhurst for lunch, with the spa and the pool for the afternoon. Dinner is at Grei, Candice Philip's seasonal tasting menu at the hotel, or, if you want a change of scene, the rooftop grill at Marble with the Johannesburg skyline around you.
The next morning you play Blair Atholl, the longest course in the country, before a helicopter takes you to Sun City for the Gary Player Country Club. Three of the country's best-known courses in three days is a fair introduction to South African golf. Our Highveld journey runs in April to June and September to November.
