Fourways, Johannesburg · South Africa · golf estate with overnight suites
Blair Atholl Golf & Equestrian Estate
Blair Atholl Golf & Equestrian Estate is in Fourways, Johannesburg, and its course is the longest in South Africa: 8,000 yards from the back tees, ranked No. 2 in the country for 2025. On The KZN Golf Circuit we stay on the estate rather than in town, because the overnight suites look straight out over the course you play the next morning.
You land at OR Tambo on your international flight and we drive you to the estate. The first afternoon is for rest after the long-haul flight. Dinner is on the estate, early, with a short walk across the grounds afterwards.
The next morning your caddie will suggest which tees to play, and at 8,000 yards it is worth listening. Non-golfers have the estate's equestrian centre, or a private drive into Johannesburg's galleries, and are back for a long lunch with the golfers.
It suits a golf party of two to four who want to walk out to the first tee without crossing the city. This is a private lodge on a golf estate, not a large hotel.
When you leave, your Embraer Phenom 300 flies from Lanseria to King Shaka International in about an hour, and you are at The Oyster Box in Umhlanga by lunch. On The Highveld Golf Circuit you play Blair Atholl from The Saxon instead, then take a forty-minute helicopter flight over the Magaliesberg to Sun City.
Good to know
- The course is on your doorstep; the suites overlook it.
- Johannesburg is malaria-free.
- There is an equestrian centre on the estate for non-golfers.
