Leopard Creek Country Club

Leopard Creek is ranked number three in South Africa by Golf Digest South Africa (2025) and hosts the Alfred Dunhill Championship. It is a private members' club on the southern edge of the Kruger, and of all the courses we play it is the one guests talk about at dinner for years afterwards. Gary Player laid it out along the Crocodile River, and across the water is the national park.

The 13th is the hole everyone remembers. The green sits above the river on the Kruger boundary, and while you line up your putt there are usually hippo in the water below you. The 18th finishes beside the hippo pool, so the round ends the way it began, with animals watching. Your caddie knows which lines the river punishes and which it forgives.

You fly in from George or Sun City in your own jet, about ninety minutes from George, and land at Malelane. The night before your round you stay at Buhala Lodge, ten minutes from the course on the Crocodile River. The next morning a Cessna Caravan takes you north to the Sabi Sand. Our journeys play here between April and November, outside the hottest, wettest months in the Lowveld. Non-golfers take a morning game drive into the Kruger and meet the golfers at the clubhouse for lunch.
